Things that influenced me:

Front covers:

• Factors from this cover that i like is the use of three colours all over the cover, as i feel it gives the magazine an interesting look.

• For my magazine i would consider using the idea of colours and then a black and white feature, i like this as it suits the vintage genre but adds a modern twist to it.

• The images used on this page link to the genre of this magazine as they all look old fashioned and dated. They have created the vintage theme by using vintage style clothing.

• Elements i particularly like that i might use for my magazine is the use of one colour that clearly stand out against the rest, and also that the headline is a lot bigger than the cover stories which makes it more luring to the target audience.

• From this cover I like the use of black and white with coloured features.

• I like that the headline it is an outstanding feature against the dull background.

Double page spread:

• Factors from this double page spread i will consider using is the large image of the record laid on top of all the record cases, i feel this gives a very vintage theme but with a modern twist. I feel as though this will interest a younger target audience into reading vintage magazines.

• From this double page spread i like the idea of a big black and white image as i feel it creates a vintage feel, this is something i will consider using in my magazine double page spread.

• From this double page spread i am going to consider using the idea of everything black, grey and white and then the feature of colour. As i feel this is modern and interesting.

• I like how there is not a lot of text used on this dps, it makes it more interesting and appealing to the reader.

Contents:

• From this contents page i will consider using the way the photographs are collaged as i feel it makes the page look interesting to the reader, due to a selection of pictures in different sizes.

• I like this contents page as the writing is really clear amongst all the pictures.

• I also like the fact that there is a lot going on and it looks really busy.

I feel as though this magazine links to Hartleys genre theory. Hartley says "Agents of ideological closure". He believes that producers just stuck to a genre then the audience would get bored. With vintage magazines i feel this is the case are nowadays there is a big niche market for vintage music magazines.
