This an Acoustic magazine front-cover about Ed Sheeran.

Masthead-
i feel the masthead is the most outstanding feature of the magazine cover. I feel this because the colour they have chosen for the masthead is a bright warm colour which contrasts which the dark background. 

Banners-
The banners on the magazine don't stand out very well, because of the colours they have chosen and that they are in a small font which is hard to read. 

Headline-
The headline chosen for this magazine is very eye catching and aesthetically pleasing. The headline is made over three different lines which makes it funky and modern. The font they have chosen to write 'Ed Sheeran' in is a bright colour which  stands out against the photograph of the artist. 



The magazine uses a lure  as they want to draw people in to buy the magazine. In this magazine the lure is the opportunity to win  Ed Sheeran's signature. This will attract the attention of people who are fans of Ed Sheeran to buy the magazine.

Central image-
The image of Ed Sheeran shows him looking directly into the camera. This makes the cover more personal and it looks as though the artist is directly looking at the buyer. The image is very typical of Ed Sheeran's style as he is holding a guitar which is his genre. 

Cover stories-
The cover stories on the cover of this magazine are clearly visible but not the most eye catching feature on the cover. The cover stories do make the magazine cover more interesting as they are giving leads into the rest of the magazine. 

One feature i like about this magazine is that the same colour scheme is used through all the cover. The three colours that have been chosen all work well together and they are the colours that this artist (Ed Sheeran) uses on his album covers.

The masthead of the magazine is in bright pink which stands out and is eye catching against the white background. There is also a banner across the bottom of the magazine which is giving a preview of things that are inside the magazine. Tulisa is the main feature of the magazine cover. The masthead also stands out and makes it obvious what the magazine is about. The photograph of Tulisa is a medium shot as it is showing the waist upwards. I think the most outstanding part of the magazine cover is the masthead because of its bright colour and interesting font. On the cover of the magazine there is five cover stories, this makes the front of the magazine interesting to potential buyers and the more stories on the front the more interesting it appears to potential buyers. There is also a puff on the front saying 'World Exclusive' this will interest people as they want to no all the latest celebrity gossip. On the front of the magazine there is 6 cover stories, these lure people in and make them want to buy the magazine to continue reading the story.  The main colour scheme of the magazine cover is white and pink. This is suggesting that the magazine is mainly for females. I also feel that the magazine looks like the target audience would been teenage girls as its main focus is on music celebrity gossip.

This magazine influences me because I like how it looks busy. The use of the bright banner is a very outstanding feature that i really like.

This is a music magazine cover, and the main focus is on the boy band 5 Seconds Of Summer. The masthead of the magazine is 'People'. The masthead stands out against the background as its block white writing which is eye catching against the blue background. The font of the masthead is San serif which is clear and neat to the audience. A banner is used to advertise the bands name. The group name '5 Seconds Of Summer' stands out against the picture due to the banner being pink against the dark colour of the bands clothes. Also a pug is used at the top of the magazine 'Collector's special' this is a eye catching feature of the magazine, also because the magazine is a collector's special it will encourage more people to buy it. The photo is a medium shot because on most of the band members you can only see from the waist up. The band are all looking directly into the camera, this gives the magazine a more personal feel as it feels as though they are looking at the buyers by direct address  which is luring people in and to make them buy the magazine as they are interested as  . The colour scheme for this cover is
pastel colours which is contrasting to the band as they are a rock pop band. The photograph is central on the magazine.The image relates to the headline  as the band photographed are the band of the name on the banner. They are arranged by bending into the camera and the image is sharp and clear also the background is clear and in focus. The models are wearing clothes that represent the genre of there band. All the band members are wearing natural makeup and their hairstyles fit in with the genre being pop/rock with cool, funky hairstyles. I like the use of pastels colours on this magazine cover, this is something i would contemplate for my own music magazine. On the cover of this magazine there is only one story saying that the magazine is all about '5 Seconds Of Summer' and getting to know the members. But also on the cover there is a puff  'PLUS! Fun Facts. Throwback looks & much more' this is a lure  as it makes people want to know these facts and throwback of the 
band.

This magazine influences me because i like the use of the pastel colours. I also like the use of the group all leaning in to each other and looking directly into the camera.

Evaluation of key skills

So far in the media course i feel i have learnt alot. I have been introduced to new elements on the macs and developed my skills on Adobe Elements 11. Adobe Elements 11 was difficult to get used to at the start but as i went through the magazine making process i feel i have improved my skills massively on that. Also my learning of the different types of camera angles you can use has increased aswell through the lessons on photographs,my camera skill are also rapidly increasing.

Music Magazine i like

I like this magazine cover because it is very eye catching. This magazine has a fun and exciting feel to it. The picture of the artist ( Megan Trainor) is bright which catches the eye or readers. Also the white writing stands out against the picture, which i like and makes it easy to read. Having a competition on the frontcover of a magazine also attracts readers. Advertising stories on the front is also a good way for the magazine to sell and readers will be interested in buying. The masthead head stands out among the cover with its bright colour and fun font.

Evaluation of Preliminary task

I am please with the overall outcome of my college magazine. I feel the colour scheme yellow and blue work really well together and especially complement each other again the plain grey background. If i was to do it again i would change the colour of the puffs or of the text inside them to make the text easier to read and stand out more to catch the readers eye more as the writing would be clearer. The masthead is very clear and i like the colours of it as they are bold and exciting and fit in with the house style of the magazine. If i was to improve the masthead i would make all the writing fit on one line instead of breaking it up over two lines which would be even more eye-catching. The photograph of my model fits in well the theme. But i feel the photograph is not a clear as it could be. To improve this i am going to practice taking medium close up photos so i improve to make the photo quality clearer. I think the boarders at the bottom of the cover look really good as they are eye catching and easily show to the audience what type of things are in the magazine and also give and insight to the genre of the magazine.

This is my finished contents page. The colour scheme matches the cover of the magazine with the yellow and blue, which is the academy colours. Things i would improve next time, i would make the presentation more exciting and more aesthetically pleasing.

These are the best 3 photos from the photoshoot. The photos are of a good quality and Amy is looking at the camera. I also feel that these photos match my hand drawn design the best. Also i liked the lighting and the positioning of the photos.

background- a plain background so the text on the cover stands out
costume- i want my model to wear casual college clothes so it is showing a realistic representation of everyday college life.

Things i have learnt so far.

In yesterdays lesson i learnt about all the different types of magazines that are available. I like to read gossip magazines, you can tell a magazine is a gossip because of the cover as they tend to have celebrity pictures and in sites into celebrity stories that will be in the magazine that tempt you to buy the magazine so you can read the story.

Also i feel producers and the audience control genre. I think this because producers see gaps in the market for new genres but the audience buy things of the genre that they like the most.

This is my plan for the cover of my college magazine. I have chosen to use the colours dark blue, yellow and light blue as they are the colours the schools logo. I also feel that the colors all complement each other and go with the block white background.

Q magazine cover analysis 1

The masthead is at the top of the magazine and  is large which makes it eye catching on the cover. Also the block red background with the white ‘Q’ makes it very noticeable. The image takes up most of the front cover, having a music artist on the cover makes the cover more exciting and catches the eye of the target audience as they will recognize the artist. The mise-en-Scene the background is block white which puts more focus on the photograph of Adele. Adele’s makeup and styling is young and stylish, appealing to the target audience.  Adele's first album is of the soul genre, with lyrics describing heartbreak and relationship. With Adele being on the cover its suggesting there could be an article on her or the magazine could be themed around soul music.
